Ilya Eli Luvish is a higher education administrator and consultant living in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was born in Ukraine and immigrated to the United States with his parents and grandmother in 1988. He graduated from the Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School in 2001 and attended Northeastern University 2001 – 2006. He began his studies in Business but soon changed to his passion, History. Under the guidance of Professor Jefferey Burds, Ilya explored his family’s past in Soviet Union and their experiences during World War 2. Identifying the lack of literature on Jewish massacres of the immediate post-war era he focused his studies on Poland and Ukraine from 1944-1947 and was one of the first to write extensively on the subject. He traveled to Israel in 2005 and lived in Jerusalem for 6 months while conducting research in the archives of Yad Vashem. The experience was life changing and ultimately helped Ilya come to terms with his family’s war time experience.
Ilya is currently employed at Harvard University where he works as an administrator and house manager at Sanders Theatre.
